As part of a global storytelling project, student journalists from the UO School of Journalism and Communication traveled to Raglan, New Zealand, to learn how indigenous and non-indigenous stakeholders are developing local solutions to complex global issues.

LIGHTING THE SPIRIT

Kylie Hollis has taught Te Reo -- the Maori  language --  for over 11 years. Through her teaching, she hopes to empower her students.

Tiaki Coates leads young men through rites of passage, grounded in Maori knowledge. Through his program, Coates strengthens connections to their community.
